In October, we’ll be savoring what’s local a little more than usual. During “Smaka på Bohuslän,” the focus is on the food, ingredients, and stories that belong here on the West Coast.
On Klädesholmen, it’s hard to start anywhere other than with the herring.
Over two weekends, October 2–4 and 9–11, we’re therefore inviting you to Salt & Sill, where herring takes center stage. The herring experience itself takes place on Saturdays, October 3 and 10. We’ll start at the table with our herring buffet and then continue alongside our chefs, who will demonstrate how we work with flavors and pickling techniques. You’ll get to pickle herring yourself—and, of course, take your creation home.
On Saturdays, House of Herrings is also open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., just 300 meters from Salt & Sill. In the old grocery store on Klädesholmen, you’ll now find a shop filled with herring, flavors, and products connected to the island and Bohuslän. Here, Klädesholmen’s long tradition of herring meets modern flavors—so be sure to stop by during the day.
Then you can decide for yourself how long you’d like to stay.
The Herring Package – Stay Overnight
If you’d like to make the most of your visit, you can book our Herring Package with arrival on Friday or Saturday during either of the two weekends.
Saturday’s herring experience is the same regardless of which arrival day you choose: a herring buffet and herring pickling session with our chefs. Around this, we’ve crafted a stay that includes an overnight stay at Salt & Sill, breakfast, and a three-course dinner inspired by the sea and seasonal ingredients.
Arrive on Friday and wake up by the sea in anticipation of Saturday’s experiences—or join us on Saturday and end the day with dinner and a night at our floating hotel.
Day Package – Herring Buffet & Herring Pickling
If you’d rather spend the whole day with us, you can book our day package on Saturday, October 3 or 10.
We’ll start with a herring buffet at 12:00 p.m., and from 2:00–4:00 p.m., we’ll continue with herring pickling together with our chefs.
Feel free to arrive a little early and take a stroll through Klädesholmen to the House of Herrings, which is open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
