As Christmas approaches, we set the Christmas table at Klädesholmen. Here, in the heart of Bohuslän, herring has been a part of life for generations—and of course, it takes pride of place on our Christmas table as well.

The evening begins with herring and flavors from the sea and continues with Christmas classics, our own favorites, and everything that belongs on a traditional Christmas buffet. Take one plate at a time, linger a while, and let Christmas begin by the sea.

Bring your family, friends, or coworkers and turn your Christmas dinner into more than just a meal. Maybe you’ll start with a stroll among the houses on Klädesholmen; maybe you’ll stay the night once the last plate has been cleared away.

One of the West Coast’s most beloved fall traditions

When fall arrives in Bohuslän, life along the coast changes. The mornings grow cooler, the boats leave the harbor at dawn, and anticipation builds for the year’s first lobster fishing season. It’s a tradition that has shaped the archipelago for generations—and one that still brings people together at sea and around the dinner table.

At Salt & Sill, at the very tip of Klädesholmen, we’re celebrating lobster season with a menu that showcases the season’s finest ingredient. Here you can enjoy the flavors of fall with the sea right outside the window, whether you’re coming for dinner, a hotel stay, or a conference on Tjörn.

If you want to get even closer to the experience, you can head out to sea with our local fishermen. During our lobster fishing trip, you’ll get to help empty the traps and experience one of Bohuslän’s most vibrant traditions up close.

Lobster season is short, and each fall offers only a limited number of opportunities. We therefore recommend that you book well in advance.
