Historical walk on Klädesholmen

Join us on a lively walk through the history of Klädesholmen – the island that has carried the scent of herring for hundreds of years. Here you will meet stories about people, sea and crafts, told by a local profile – Morgan Bråse, with herring in his blood and stories in his pocket.

The historical herring walk starts from Salt & Sill and takes you on a tour of Klädesholmen’s picturesque alleys and quays. For about 1.5 hours, you get an insight into how the island developed from the golden age of herring fishing to today’s modern society, where the tradition is still alive and well.

The tour offers culture, stories and personal memories – a journey through time, work and community in the heart of Bohuslän. The tour can also be tailored to the group’s wishes, which makes it a popular feature for conference groups, associations and private parties.

For those who want to deepen the experience, the tour can be combined with a visit to Klädesholmen’s Herring Museum “Sillebua”, where the history of herring comes to life.

From herring periods to food culture – a lecture on the history of Klädesholmen

Join us for a captivating lecture about Klädesholmen – the island that has been the heart of the Swedish herring tradition for hundreds of years. Here, culture, business and food culture are woven together in a story filled with history, the smell of the sea and living stories from Bohuslän.

During this lecture, Morgan Bråse, lecturer and native of Klädesholmen, takes you on a journey through time and tradition. You will learn about the unique history of Klädesholmen – from the rise and fall of the herring periods to how the island became a hub of Sweden’s food culture.

It’s an engaging and educational moment where the stories of the people, the sea and life on the West Coast are brought back to life. Perfect for a conference or private group event.

The lecture lasts approximately 45-60 minutes, but can be adapted to the group’s wishes. The activity can be booked all year round and is tailored to each group.

Three herrings. Three schnapps. A unique experience.

Experience one of our most appreciated activities, Snapas – a tasteful and atmospheric moment where herring and schnapps take center stage. Here we offer a unique taste experience where tradition meets innovation, and where both taste buds and curiosity get theirs.

During Snapas, you’ll get to taste three creative herring dishes, each of which has been named Herring of the Year in its respective year:

• 2024 – Thyme & cranberry, accompanied by a herbal sillsup with thyme and cranberry
• 2025 – Browned butter, matched with a sillsup flavored with fresh horseradish.
• 2026 – Ceviche, served with a sillsup flavored with lemongrass and ginger.

The schnapps – or sillsuparna as we call them – come from the small-scale Klocktornet Distillery in Ljungskile, known for its artisanal and taste-driven production.

Please note that both herring and snapper varieties may vary depending on the season and availability.

A taste journey through history

During the tasting, you will also learn about Klädesholmen’s unique herring history – from the great herring periods of the 16th century to today’s modern herring industry. Experience an exciting lobster fishery

After an introduction with us, you board the boat, which is waiting at our pier, and embark on an exciting and unforgettable lobster fishing trip. Together with our experienced guide, you will learn the art of catching the black gold of the sea and enjoy the unique experience at sea.

After fishing, return to the jetty where, with the help of your guide, you can cook your own freshly caught lobster – a real delicacy! While the lobster is being cooked, you can sit back and enjoy the lovely sea atmosphere, and why not have a warming drink in your hand. A perfect ending to an adventurous sea adventure!

Lobster fishing is the perfect activity for companies and groups who want to experience the unique charm of the West Coast even in the fall – a combination of excitement, community and scenic experiences.

An arrangement that is guaranteed to raise the adrenaline level and smile bands among the participants.
You need to think tactically and a bit outside the box to succeed best.
The teams get a tablet, where they have to unlock the missions with the codes we have “hidden”.
Around the corridors and spaces, the codes are set up and now it is important for the teams to find these to unlock the missions. The missions are to be solved by the teams together and are a mix of puzzles, brainteasers and questions to answer.

A fun and light-hearted activity where teams’ creativity and collaboration skills will be put to the test.
Participants will be divided into teams of 5-6 people and given a pre-packed backpack and a
tablet. Now the teams will collect points on the most odd, quirky and fun sets we think you have tested.
Newer technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Augmented Reality (AR) and 360 degree images are something you
will test in this setup.
The backpacks contain all the equipment, tools and any supplies that may be used
during the activity.
It is not always the teams that do the most missions that are victorious…

When you choose to rent a bike from us for a full day, the bikes will be available for you from 1 pm. 09:00 to 17:00. Cost? 300 kr per bike.
